EIGHT BALL LEAGUES

Snookers 8-ball leagues were developed for the enjoyment of everyone, male and female, beginners to expert and we currently operate the largest most successful leagues in the tri-state area.

There are three seasons each year which begin at the end of January, May, and September.

Format

Teams are chosen by random draw and consist of 3-5 players on each team. There are 5 rounds in a match with each player on one team playing, in rotation, every player on the opposing team. This enables league members the opportunity to play a variety of different players with never a long wait between games. Each player develops a handicap and the difference of both teams combined handicaps is used to equalize play.

Leagues are scheduled to play on various nights during the week. Team play lasts 10-14 weeks followed by an individual tournament and team tournament.

Cash Prizes and Trophies

Competition, fun, and social camaraderie are the main reasons to play in a league, but there are additional benefits - cash awards go to each team for every round won during team play. Trophies are awarded to members of each League Team Champion, the Individual Tournament Champion and Team Tournament Champion. Special awards are given to the players achieving the highest handicap (Top Gun Award) and the player chosen as the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP).

League Party and Champions Tournament

Each January a Tournament is held to determine a Grand Champion, (both team and individual) from the previous year. This Champion of Champions Tournament is held on a Saturday, and is followed on Sunday by a huge party for all prior year league players.

  NINE BALL LEAGUES

While 8-ball still dominates league play, many players prefer the action, quick pace, and position skill used in 9-ball. Snookers' 9-ball leagues were developed in response to this interest and they have been tremendously successful.

Format

Snookers 9-ball leagues are coed are designed for all types of recreational players, from beginners to advanced. Emphasis is on competitive fun and social interaction. the format is flexible; a league will generall have 4-6 teams, each having 3 or 4 players determined by a random draw. Each player developes a handicap as play progresses and a team's combined handicaps are used to equalize matches with opposing teams.

Cash Prizes and Trophies

FUN is the only real reason to join a league, but Snookers 9-ball does provide some nice cash prizes. There is money awarded for each game won, for a 9-ball made on the break and for every "break and run," as well as prize money distributed to the top league finishers.

Trophies are awarded to the members of the league Team Champion, the Individual Tournament winner and the Team Tournament winners. Special awards are given to the players achieving the highest handicap (Top Gun Award) and the player chosen by his/her fellow players as Most Valuable Player (MVP).
